The Vikings Blade Started Off As A Gift Item...

On my birthday last year, my girlfriend decided to buy me the VikingsBlade Safety Razor among other gift items. At the time, I was using one of Feather's double edge razors. I have always been lucky with razors as I do not have a sensitive skin or coarse hair. I started using the Vikings Blade the next day and fell totally in love with it.

The product is not aggressive and is very gentle on my skin. Although my hair is not naturally coarse, it still doesn't pull on the hair. It is quite hefty like my previous Feather and allows for a closer and better shave. It's a bit shorter than my previous razor but I don't really have a problem with it. Blade change is another amazing thing about it. Whoever brought up the idea for a butterfly head needs to be commended! Unless you've used a razor with a butterfly head, it's impossible for you to truly understand. In all, I would definitely recommend this to any man still in doubt.

Vikings Blade Safety Razor Review

So I got the much talked about Vikings Blade sometime last month and was really anxious to test it out. I'll do a better review after using it for like 6 months but I need to do this one real quick. First thing first, everything you've heard about the product is true. I'm not even going to bother asking what exactly you heard. So I'll start with the packaging. It's came in a really simple package; nothing really out of the ordinary.

Unboxing it, you'll see the travel case and the 5 extra blades along with the product. I didn't waste much time in testing it because I hadn't shaved that morning. The butterfly head is amazing, especially in changing the blades. My previous razor was a TTO, so you know where I am coming from. The razor is not too aggressive and I would recommend it for any beginner. Shave was even and smooth and left not bruises or cuts. The handle is short and I think that pushes the head closer to the skin for a better shave. All in all, shaving with the Vikings Blade is a beautiful experience. Like I said, I'll do a comprehensive review to see how well and far the product can last.

Merkur "Futur" Safety Razor Review - Decide What You Mean By "Adjustable" Before You Buy

The Futur on its lowest setting exposes more blade than the Progess does on its highest setting. For classic Gillette adjustable owners, setting 9 of 9 on the Fatboy or Slim is roughly the same as setting 2 of 6 on the Futur. Plus the Futur is immensely heavy, about 25% heavier than a Progess or a Fatboy. This adds up to a mighty aggressive shaver!

In my particular case, I can only use the least sharp blades in the Futur (aka Derby & Merkur) at the lowest possible setting (1 of 6). If I use some sharper blade (Personna Blue, Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows, or even an Astra SP) or dare to crank the dial up to 2 of 6, aaargggh! Lobster face, razor burn for hours, even without any blood. So I can use 1 or 2 types of blades in this, and on only 1 of 6 settings. (There are half point settings as well, but even 1.5 is gap too far for me...) To me, this is not really an adjustable, as I always have to use the same setting and only certain types of blades, unless I want to rip my face off.

Lest you think me unmanly or inexpert, I will say I have used razors that are heavy (Maggard MR8) and some that are known for having aggressive heads (Parker 92R, Weber PH) and I can get smooth skin and a non-lobster face using those razors with all sorts of blades. It's only the Futur that causes me red-faced grief. Of course, in the wet shaving world, we have our flint-bearded Vikings, who have metallic stubble and shave once every several days. If you are one of these types, this may be your razor and maybe you can enjoy different blades and settings.

I like the adjustable concept as it gives users a lot of customization options and the ability to mix exposure up during different shave passes. Most users who want this feature set and do not want a deply abraded face would be better off with the Merkur Progress, or a vintage Gillette adjustable if you can get one at a reasonable price (think Super or Slim, not Fatboy!) but for most, the Progress will be the most affordable solution and that model is well made and offers a usable range of adjustment at a cheaper price than the Futur.

I feel bad rating the Futur poorly. It is well made, and I have none of the usual complaints. The head does indeed fit into the nooks and crannies of my face well enough, and I find blade replacement to be both simple and safe. I just can't see paying this much for a razor that (in my case) ends up being non-adjustable!

Viking Blade Safety Razor Review - Customer Review

Like my dermatologist would say, I do have a tender, baby-like facial skin. While this may seem all nice and cute, it actually means I am left with cuts and bumps after every shaving experience. My dermatologist had advised I use a Gillette at one point in time but even though it gave me a good shave, the reactions was not much to be proud of. The first time I ever heard of the Vikings Blade was when I went to complain I was having frequent cuts than previously experienced. 

After using the Vikings Blade for over a year now, my face free from bumps and cuts. While I am not much into the technical details of products, my research led me to know that the Vikings Blade comes with a micro-comb that prevents such cuts. The product doesn’t have a long handle like my Gillette which I believe allows for a better and closer shave. 

The product comes with 5 blades and other few accessories. The product has a hefty feel to it and has one of the best butterfly heads I have ever seen. The butterfly head allows for quick blade changes during shave. The product in general seems to be made from superior materials as I have not have any issues with it since I have been using it. It was not until recently I discovered the product carries a lifetime warranty from its manufacturer. Unlike before, I shave roughly every day – if I have the time for it.

Viking Blade Review - The light to a new era!

I tell a story that had happened not too long ago in the days of old, a wise old lady told me of a blade unlike any other that could provide me with light to live once again. Upon traveling through the great amazon to a temple within the heart of the land of many paths held a being who I was told about. They offered me the blade but with a cost, I had to endure a war on my face for a whole 2 days before obtaining this blade. And so I endure through the battles that held all over until a messenger came to me. He handed a scabbard to me and when I looked back, he was gone. As I pull the blade by it's hilt and out of it's sacred scabbard, a light shines in front of me and on the battlefield. The blade brought itself together and with me as we took control of the endless growing field. Blood drew from the ground and the offspring of the enemy from many generations fall to the blade and I. In the end only rain falls on the field as the fallen warriors' bodies are washed away. I looked back at the blade and knew I can put all of my trust into it!


I really like this razor from the ones I used before. The reusable blades are easy and cheap to come by unlike spending about $20 for 5 heads when I can go to a nearby Family Dollar and by 5 blades for $1. It's also very easy to clean with water flowing right through it, it caught almost-all of the bits of hair that was in it. I'm glad that my grandma told me about it and I saw it here on amazon so I knew it would get to me soon and I can finally shave my face! Better then using 5 razors and a electric one to remove what is on my face.

VIKINGS BLADE Double Edge Safety Razor - Great for ingrown hair sufferers!

I'm always a bit skeptical when I see a product with all 5 stars. After using the Vikings double-edge safety razor I can understand why. Product arrived on time and was delivered in unique packaging and protective case. It feels very well built and study in the hand with a good weight to it.

I am new to shaving with a safety razor although I had shaved with a straight razor in the past. I will tell you that it is all about angles.

I wanted a safety razor because my skin (particularly my lower neck) was getting out of hand with ingrown hairs. This (I researched) is found from two things: irritation and bacteria. Both of those are common when using multi-blade disposables.

I've only shaved now for a couple of days with the Viking and my skin is already less red and irritated. Make sure you watch some YouTube videos online about technique. Also don't stop with a great razor, you have to go all in. Good brush, cream, and aftershave.

My only negative is that the included 5 blades feel a little cheap. However, I have no prior experience with safety razors as I said so it might just be experience here and trying different blades.

It's a great product and if you have ingrown hairs like me, this seems to be a very good solution. Only other recommendation would be if instead of a hard carry case this product came with a stand as I think that is more useful to help it dry properly. They are pretty inexpensive either way and so I purchased one off amazon as well.

Vikings Blade Safety Razor vs Edwin Jagger Kelvin Double Edged Safety Razor

The Edwin Jagger Kelvin is a household name for many and is considered one of the top brands out there. Today it would have to compete with the Vikings Blade by Julian Vue. Just to keep to the basics, we'll compare with general desirable specs of any double edge.

This Edwin Jagger comes with a handle of length 2.95". This would not be a problem if you do not have large hands. Since I have large hands, the Vikings Blade which comes with a length of 3.75" would be a better choice for me.

Both the Edwin Jagger Kelvin and the Vikings Blade have chrome plated finishes. They are both attractive and appear manly, if you are much into appearances.

Both products come with an additional 5 blades to help give a perfect shaving experience. If you're a beginner, you can use any of these two products and shouldn't have a problem with them. The Edwin Jagger Kelvin has closed combed razor for a great shaving experience while the Vikings Blade comes with a micro-comb to prevent accidental cuts.

When it comes to price, the Edwin Jagger Kelvin is slightly more expensive than the Vikings Blade. If you are a frequent shaver, you may need to settle for the Vikings Blade to save up some cash.

They both have fantastic performance and give excellent shaving results, leaving you with a smooth, clean shave.

The Edwin Jagger Kelvin may be an old household name but the Vikings Bladeby Julian Vue compares favorably with it. The Vikings Blade beats the Edwin Jagger Kelvin in terms of price. Knowing you can get a double edge razor that competes with any in the world in terms of performance, is a good deal. Even more so, it is easy to maintain and cost effective.

Usually I wouldn't do this because I just don't feel comfortable doing a review on products. No, I'm not shy or anything; especially when the option of posting anonymously is still available. Anyways so I got a birthday gift about 4 months ago from my girlfriend. Among other really awesome cool gifts (we don't need to talk about them), she got me one of this Vikings Blade safety razor by Julian Vue. I'd have to admit that I was a bit perplexed. I didn't know if it was her way of saying I usually have bad shaves or I'm just too hairy for my own self. Honestly that was the first time I was knowing the Viking blade by Julian Vue. In the past, I've tried several brands but always seemed to have one problem or the other.

So it's been 4 months now and I'm yet to get a reason to buy a new shaving stick. The first thing I noticed when I held it was how compact it is. It has a length of 3.75" and a weight of 85g. It is remarkably hefty and allows for easy use and maneuvering. I may not know much about what quality of materials is all about but I can say this product is strong and durable. The products butterfly head allows for a quick 5 second blade change. This is no joke! Changing blades is as easy and effortless as anything you can imagine. I know I can be clumsy at times but I've never cut myself with this blade. I believe this is what the microcomb system was designed to prevent. About a month ago I curious to know how expensive this product was and was totally blown away! Something this affordable actually exists and I've just been wasting money on other disappointing brands.

The viking blade safety razor review

I'm not sure how to go about this review without getting into a discussion about wet shaving in general, so I'll do my best here to keep it product specific.
I held off quite awhile before posting this review because this was my first safety razor and experience with traditional shaving. I didn't want to give it a rating until I was sure I knew what I was doing, and not blaming the razor for any lack of skill/practice on my part.

The Viking's Blade definitely does the job, however, it's not always consistent. I've tried it with several different blades, etc. and have had good results for the most part, but it doesn't seem to hold the blades perfectly straight. I have to spend a minute or two each time I'm installing a new blade to make sure to position it just right before tightening the butterfly mechanism, else I get an uneven shave or more-than-usual nicks. Even when the blade is sitting right, I have to make several passes and reapply more cream before it gets it all (I'm talking 5, 6, sometimes more). Now, before writing that, I made sure it wasn't the blades I was using or my technique. I've tried several brands of blades and I've been using a few different razors with moderate success, so I can safely say that this is an issue with the razor itself. It may have something to do with the guard/comb part of the head, and it may work better for others with different types of facial hair, but it's consistently not giving me a close shave without multiple attempts.

I will say that, having tried a few other brand razors in the meantime, this one does do a pretty good job with not cutting you. I have two other reputable brand razors that are much more prone to nicks. From what I gather, this has to do with the spacing between the blade and the guard. If that is indeed the case, then the Viking's blade has good spacing.

The razor itself is of very high-quality construction and definitely has some weight to it. It's very comfortable to hold and it's easy to clean.

All in all, I would say the Vikings Blade was a good choice to learn the ins and outs of traditional shaving, and I would definitely recommend it to other beginners - but I don't think my shave quest ends here.
